PARIS 2024 X ABOUT A WORKER

We were comissioned to conceive a textile mural for the 2024 Paris Olympic games. This came to be as a collective work and will be exposed in the entry stairway of the Ladoumegue stadium in Paris.

WHO ARE THE PARTICIPANTS

We worked together with athletes, who made collages, representing their respective sports. Throughout the process, we set only one rule : each participant had to follow the principle of the tangram. Check out their artworks here !

WHAT’S A TANGRAM ?

It is a japanese sort of puzzle, which dissects a square shape into 7 geometric shapes of different scales.

STEP 1 : EXPRESS YOUR VISION OF SPORT THROUGH A TANGRAM

Each athlete was given the same tools to make their collage, and the outcome of each artwork was unique and personal.

STEP 2 : DESIGN OF A COLLECTIVE TANGRAM BY ABOUT A WORKER

Our teams then took care of transcribing the collages into ripstop patchworks, designing the final artwork.

STEP 3 : INSTALLATION OF THE COLLECTIVE ARTWORK AT STADE LADOUMEGUE

The monumental patchworks were then mounted by our team of professionals. The artwork was thoughtfully designed and could finally come alive in this space. The glass structure allows the sun to pierce through the fabric, taking advantage of the play with transparency and emphasizing the shapes through layering.
