ABOUT THE EXPRESSIVE MASK

Since the Covid-19 crisis, the mask has become an essential accessory. But its popularisation erases the unique expressiveness of each individual: vital to human beings, to transmit and communicate their stories and emotions. ABOUT A WORKER has designed a mask whose major function is to be an expressive medium allowing our society to expose their emotions and feelings by creating their own statement. The Expressive Mask are proudly made by women workers from CONCEPT INSERTION, an integration factory situated in Calais (North of France), which has the particularity to employ experienced seamstresses and apprentices in vulnerable living situations.

THE EXPRESSIVE MASK BY BÉRÉNICE MILON

We found Bérénice Milon’s work on instagram, and our team felt in love with her style. We contacted her to present our project around the covid masks and she was immediately inspired by our initiative and wanted to participate to show other people that creativity can survive during this global pandemic. We asked Bérénice to design her own expressive mask and report the process with a video in her studio. We meet Bérénice at her appartement which is also her studio. She already had made some sketches and explained her her vision of her expressive masks. She added her own style: very graphic and colourful to transform that standard covid mask on a very stylish accessories. With this project we wanted to showed that even with the face covered you can still express yourself !
