ABOUT MAD HOME OF CREATORS
MAD known as the Home of Creators is a platform specialised in fashion and design innovation. The institution & incubator is located in the heart of Brussels, the European capital. It’s a place where people share their network, knowledges and tips with those in need of creative inspiration. MAD encourages new initiatives and supports those passionate about fashion and design in order to strengthen their development and growth in these fields.
ABOUT UNITED FASHION FESTIVAL
The United Fashion Festival, curated by Bénédicte de Brouwer and Aya Noël is carried out by a cluster of 7 European fashion support associations from 6 different countries, promoting entrepreneurial creativity and innovation to enhance business relationships for European fashion designers. Via a cross-border cooperation set up in France, Germany, the Baltic region, Macedonia, Portugal and Belgium, international designer showrooms enable fashion professionals to access onsite market knowledge and new development opportunities by meeting local buyers, producers, journalists and consumers. United Fashion addresses the need for fashion creatives across Europe to be more business minded, without limiting their creativity.
ABOUT A WORKER AT THE EXHIBITION
We presented our SHENZHEN collection at MAD @ UNITED FASHION FESTIVAL. This collection was made and designed during our participation to the BI-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture. We decided to collaborate with locals from the exhibition district and had the chance to team up with 5 women currently producing clothes from home for different clothing factories. Issued from Chinese rural immigration, these women have arrived in Shenzhen 15 Years ago. We asked the women to embellish uniforms and to tell their vision of Shenzhen’s transformation through their own design.
