In 2018, we collaborated with 5 logistic workers from the famous local brand LA REDOUTE to imagine a ready to wear collection together, with the pattern making and creative collaboration team ! ABOUT A WORKER X LA REDOUTE ready-to-wear collection exposes the desire for elegance at work !
ABOUT A WORKER x a labour of love - lille (2020)
During the event Lille World Design Capital 2020, ABOUT A WORKER was invited by Lidewij Edelkoort & Philip Fimmano to take part in the exhibition A LABOUR OF LOVE. For the occasion ABOUT A WORKER invited ANTI_FASHION association to co host the project. Together, the teams imagined a custom apron workshop : each visitor could design their dream apron with a couture maker.
ABOUT A WORKER x mondes nouveaux : made by locals (?) - hauts-de-france (2022-2023)
With Mondes Nouveaux program, supported by the French Ministry of Culture, ABOUT A WORKER was able to start research on the strength and weaknesses of industrial relocalization. For 6 months ABOUT A WORKER met with different local industrial actors ( Sophie Hallette, Lemaitre Demesteere, Safilin, Potencier…) and imagined with local fashion students and amateurs a new creation, production and consumer system : 100% local. The prototype version was exposed at LES ARCHIVES NATIONALES DU MONDE DU TRAVAIL in Roubaix the historical textile city of France. The project was rewarded later on by the European Commission and the New European Bauhaus Prizes 2023 as the new rising star for Shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life cycle thinking.
ABOUT A WORKER’S CREATIVE FACTORY - ROUBAIX (SINCE 2024)
ABOUT A WORKER and 4 local workers have opened their first creative factory in the heart of Roubaix. Together they design and produce clothes for various labels using old dead stocks from local fabric makers. They also host public upcycling workshops occasionally.
