LBO X ABOUT A WORKER

USING OLD UNIFORMS TO CREATE NEW ACCESSORIES

During our stay at the retirement home Les Blés D’Or in Chambéry, we have discovered a room full of old pastel coloured uniforms. As planned, the caregivers and the innkeeper attire were about to change. The old ones were about to be thrown away! We thought it could be a wonderful idea to co-design practical accessories with the retirement staffs as their new uniforms had no pockets.

STEP 1 - WHAT DO YOU HAVE ON YOU ?

We hosted two workshops with the caregivers and the innkeepers. The first step was to get to know what they would carry with them on a daily basis, to study their needs (going from professional items to personal one). At the end of the first step , the participants showed us their ideal ways to take and drop their items.

STEP 2 - PROTOTYPE #1 TEST

We then followed the caregivers and innkeepers with our first prototype. It was a manner to experience its use on site and imagine the last details together to help them in their daily lives.

STEP 3 - PROduction of the new creations

After this long survey, we produced two different accessories for the caregivers and innkeepers. We upcycled all the old blouses to make them.

what’s next ?

The last creations and process were exposed during LBO Art Center’s opening. The LBO X ABOUT A WORKER’s accessories are going to be made for all the innkeepers and caregivers present at the EHPAD. Each product will have a unique colour combination , each employee will be able to choose its favorite.
