ABOUT A WORKER - VENEZIA

VENEZIA COLLECTION

For its second collection, About a Worker taught its design initiation and collaborated with the inmates of the Giudecca Correctional Center in Venice.

Anna, Cin, Maya and Michaela have different origins and know-how but share the same hope of finding an escape from their everyday life in prison through sewing and tailoring.

Unlike the first collection, the source of inspiration to create the clothes was their own identity rather than their past story. In fact, the initiation started with the creation of a mask that represented them: a powerful communicative tool as well as a reminder of the Venice carnival universe.

About a Worker wants to reinterpret the local working clothes in its collections. That is why the worker deconstructed and embellished the traditional outfit of the Burano lace maker, an iconic profession of the Venetian region. The statement pieces of the Venezia collection were developed with scrap fabrics from Rubelli, an iconic weaving company from Venice.
